Andee's New Look for Fall!

So I did it! I took the plunge and dyed my hair this weekend! We went for a light brown and when we weren't satisfied with the outcome, Erica decided we should go a little darker. She also used a new technique where she kept some of my blonde hidden under my layers, so it kind of peeps out and looks really cool when I pull my hair up! Its new and spunky! Just what I needed!

Here's to my EXCELLENT stylist, Erica, who not only does amazing work, but who is brave enough to dye my hair a darker color. Because she knows that if I didn't like it, SHE'D have to fix it! Luckily for her I love it! (for now.. just kidding Red!)

Kelly personally likes my hair better blonde, but likes the new look too. I desperately needed a change and I'm so happy with it!

Good Bye Pine Tree Slideshow

Below is a slideshow of our Sunday festivities! Kelly and Joe thought it was the perfect day to take on the big pine tree that took up half of our driveway. Thanks to Erica, we have all of these great photos! I was inside sick all day! I'm kind of glad though, Kelly standing in that unstable tree with a chain saw made me nauseous! But he was so excited!! Couldn't wait to use the chain saw! I'm sorry I don't have a BEFORE picture, but this thing was massive! Now all we have to do is get rid of the extra branches and get rid of the enormous tree stump, which we will most likely be asking family/friends that have a truck to help us pull out the stump. Afterwards, we plan on putting in some gravel or something so we can have a car port!
(Hopefully done before winter season!)

Rejected? Better get used to it!

Believe it or not, I've never been turned down for a job in my life! It's true! When I was 16, I got my first job at The Utah Fun Dome so I could buy a car. Of course I had only worked there for 2 weeks before they closed the place down. So stuck with a car payment, I needed a job ASAP. Luckily, my Uncle Casey needed checkers for the upcoming holidays at Ream's, so I was able to get a job right after Fun Dome fell through. However, I never expected to stay at Ream's for 4 1/2 years. After having enough of crazy grocery store, Erica's friend referred me to Marriott Vacation Club and I've been working there ever since, almost 2 years. So see.. Never been turned down for a job..

Until Now!

I'm still with Marriott, but I've wanted to try something new and I knew just what to apply for! I've always been interested in teaching, so.. this past week I turned in my application for a position in the Talent Development Dept a.k.a. Training Dept, teaching new hires how to do the job. I was a little scared to apply, but I thought.. What the hell! If I get it great, if I don't I still have a great position with an awesome team. I had to do a oral presentation in front the Training Manager and another Trainer. I was really scared because I haven't done anything like that since high school. But I did it! My presentation interview was this past Wednesday and I killed it! Or at least I thought I did. I found out today that they are going to be giving the position to someone else, someone more experienced. They said that they couldn't pass up an associate that's been with the company for 10 years. I don't blame them, but I still really wanted the position.

I didn't expect to be disappointed, I knew that I was happy with just having the opportunity to apply, but not getting the position was a little bit of a shock. The Training Dept Manager has known about my interest in becoming a Trainer for some time now and I was so confident that I did a great job.. maybe a little overly confident. I know I said that if I didn't get it I'd still be apart of something great, but that doesn't mean it's not going to hurt being turned down.

I know this isn't the last time I'm going to be rejected or turned down for a job, but the first is always the hardest to overcome!

Rosie Socks

Please say "Hello" to our newest member of the Hellstrom Family, Rosie Socks!

It just so happened that when Kelly and I went to PetSmart this past Saturday to buy a filter for our fish tank, they were having their "Adoption Day" Kelly and I have always wanted a dog and with the new house, we couldn't wait to get one. However, on this trip to PetSmart, leaving with a puppy was NOT planned. While Kelly searched the fish tank items, I wondered around the isles that had kennels of dogs, puppies, cats and kittens.. just looking. When I came to the end of the isle and saw a small black puppy. At this point I didn't know what kind of dog it was, but another family was looking at her. They seemed pretty interested so I walked off trying to find Kelly. We found ourselves passing this little puppy again, this time she was alone.

Kelly and I bent down to see what kind of dog she was when an employee stated, "This is Miss Piggy, she is a 3 month old Pit Bull Mix. You can take her out if you want." And that was that.. we took this adorable puppy out and couldn't put her back. Kelly and I took her home 20 minutes later.

Kelly and I did not keep the Miss Piggy, it really didn't fit her. So after searching the Internet for a few hours and with the help of Erica, we decided on Rosie Socks. If you can't tell by the pictures, her front legs look like they've been dipped in white paint OR like she is wearing socks.

Here are a few pictures of her falling asleep with Kelly on her first day with us and playing with her new best friend Lucas.

How could I NOT take a picture? Too cute! Her poor little belly is swollen from being spayed. Like her little bald spot?

Lucas and Rosie love to play together. Since Lucas can't fight with his paws, he fights with his teeth! So they just bite each other.. Luckily they know when to stop. There hasn't been any blood spilt, yet. Kelly took this picture mid-play and I don't know if you can tell but Lucas face is fierce! He kinda scares me when he plays, like he'll hurt Rosie. Just wait Lucas! :)

Why hello Friend!

Another one of them playing in the backyard. They wear each other out.

Park City 2008

Below are some photos from our annual "Visit to Park City before they close the slide for the winter season." Unfortunately the Alpine Slide was closed due to a lightning watch, but no matter! We rode the coaster 3 times instead.. which I know the slide is classice, but the coaster is so much fun! You are on a track with no need to brake and trust me, we didn't! Dad & Nancy also treated us to caramel apples at Rocky Mountain and Red Robin for dinner. Thank you so much Dad & Nancy for another exciting day. It's times like these that I love, spending time with family and just acting goofy. You'll see what I mean by goofy when you see some of the pictures we took. There is so many! We had so much fun! It was a perfect way to spend a Sunday!!

My Main Man

I may be a fan of Edward from Twilight, but the only man in my life is Kelly Jay Hellstrom!

Just wanted to give a shout out to the best husband in the world. Kelly always keeps me laughing! He is always there for me, always staying positive.. Let's face it, Kelly keeps me sane! I'm so lucky to have him and I wouldn't trade him in for any fictional character in the world.

Kelly, I love you more!

What is it about the "Bad Boy?"

Please introduce yourself to Cam Gigandet aka James in upcoming Twilight Movie. You may recognize him from his latest film Never Back Down or the Fox hit The O.C.

For those of you who aren't familiar with the series, James is the villain in the first book. Unlike Edward, James lust for Bella's blood is strictly carnivorous and threatens her life more than once.

So what is it about the "Bad Boy?" Is it the danger? The mystery? Or is it just the want of something different from our every day? Whatever way you look at it, we love to hate 'em!

Here's just a taste.. Keep in mind that the last picture is Cam playing Twilight character James.. His hair definitely needs a comb through, but he is still a good looking man!

Having Cam play James in Twilight is an extra bonus, just more eye candy! I'm still an Edward fan.. but I'm always open to something new and exciting!
